There was a good turn out of local children and their parents last Friday evening for the big switch on of Maybole’s Christmas lights. Maybole Pipe Band led Santa’s sleigh from the Carnegie Library up the High Street to the Town Hall. Accompanying Santa were this year’s King of Carrick, Jack Wallace, Cathy Jamieson MSP and Councillor Alan Murray.

Councillor Murray welcomed everyone to the switch on what was a fine night and Ms Jamieson comprehensively thanked everyone who had helped in any way to make the event such a success. This included the Pipe Band, the community council, community association, Carrick Round Table, Maybole & District Business Association, the Youth Action Team, South Ayrshire Council, Strathclyde Police, Scott White and Stephen Brownlie from Alfred MCAlpine, Jim Bryant of GAB audio engineers who helped with the sound system, community wardens and Welltrees Holiday Club who ran the disco afterwards.
