It was bitterly cold but it stayed dry last Saturday November 27 for the big switch on of Maybole’s Christmas lights. From 3pm right through to 6pm there was always something happening with entertainment provided by Carrick Academy choir, and pipers;  dance routines fron Chikaz; Gardenrose Primary choir; The Raw Kings; Cairn Primary choir; Maybole Parish Church choir; St Cuthbert’s Primary choir; and The Peas. Magic Malky was compère and kept the fun going. There was also a mini funfair for children as well.

At 5.30pm Maybole Pipe Band marched from the library to the Town Hall followed by Santa and his friends, Robert McEwan and Alix Anderson this year’s Gala King and Queen of Carrick, Provost Winifred Sloan, and local Councillors Mairi Low, Brian Connolly and Sandra Goldie. Provost Sloan welcomed everyone and thanked all those who had helped in any way to put on such a great event and then it was time to count down for the big switch on and as the lights lit up snow started falling.
