Saturday, November 28 was the day of the big switch on of Maybole’s Christmas lights, organised by Maybole Community Association. The entertainment started at 3.30pmpm in the Town Hall with Mark Fletcher, chairman of Maybole Community Council, as MC and there was plenty of music and dance to keep everyone happy. Choirs from Cairn, Gardenrose and  St Cuthbert’s Primaries kept the seasonal music going and Maybole Majorette and Dance School also performed. This was followed by a disco for under 12s with lots of games and dancing. At 5.30pm, everyone made their way outside as Maybole Pipe Band marched from the library to the Town Hall followed by Santa and his special friends in his sleigh.  Provost Moonie thanked everyone involved in making the day so successful and then it was time to count down for the big switch on. This year, there is the added attractions of extra lights and the nativity scene in the Town Hall garden. Afterwards, there was a disco for 12 to 15 year olds back inside the hall.
