Sunday
June 20 is the date of Maybole’s annual gala this year and
preparations are nearly complete.
Any local
organisation who would like to take a stall is asked to
contact Margaret Landburgh as quickly as possible on 01655
882318.
The
organisers, Maybole Community Association, would also like
to hear from those who will be taking part in the gala
parade. There is no specific theme this year so groups or
individuals are free to do their own thing.
The parade,
led by Maybole pipe band, will leave Carrick Academy at 1pm
and head for the Glebe Park via Kiroswald Road and the High
Street.
At the park
the first event will be the crowning of the Gala King and
Queen of Carrick who this year are Robert McEwan and Alix
Anderson of Cairn Primary. Attendants from Gardenrose
Primary are Chris Parkin, crownbearer, and Rebecca McBride,
lady in waiting. From St Cuthbert’s they are Zak Roy,
crownbearer, and Ciera Campbell, lady in waiting.
On the
park, as well as stall raising funds for local organisations,
there will be inflatables, a bouncy castle, kids stalls, a
roundabout, pitch and putt, pony rides, Uncle Billy, face
painting, tattoos, hair braiding and much more. There will
be music from the Tuesday Night Girls and dancing by pupils
of the Chi-Kaz School of Dance and Maybole Majorettes and
Dance School.
Officially,
the Gala Week begins with a united service at Crossraguel
Abbey a week earlier, June 13, at 2pm and everyone is asked
to note the earlier time this year.
