Who Do You Rely On?
No sooner was
my wife off to a conference
-
than I was making my first mistake.
I
finished preparing the notes we needed.
I
put the heating on and carried extra chairs to the lounge.
I
quickly ate a sandwich and drank a cup of tea.
At
the appointed time - no-one arrived!
Had
she been here, she would have put me right!
I
was seven days out!
I t's
not so terrible - I'm ready for next week. Though it made me ask - Who
do I rely on? For much
of my life I rely on me, or my wife of 32 years. And from time to time we
both make mistakes.
But in one thing, we know we have made no mistake.
We
rely on the love God has for us.
In
2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 9 we read:
But
this happened that we might not rely on ourselves
but
on God, who raises the dead.
Paul speaks of something more important than a diary mix-up. But he is making a
vital point that is universally true.
The Apostle John puts it like this 1 John 4.15-16:
If
anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God,
God
lives in him and he in God.
And
so we know and rely on the
love God has for us.
So
then, who do You rely on?
