Have you been caught by freebies enticing you to buy something? Believe me, Christians get caught in just the same way. Yet they still want to talk about God’s Free Gift - or free gifts! That’s because the Bible uses the ‘free gift’ language. For example, there is: Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9.15). The writer refers to God’s gift of His Son. Or take: the (free) gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6.23). Take the one and the other is yours, automatically. Both come in the one offer.The catch? Well, the second quote actually says: the wages of sin is death , but the(free) gift of God is eternal lifein Christ Jesus our Lord.
