A
friend in Belgium, whose church had just been visited by a team of
Canadians, wrote: They were a great help . . . everyone found saying
goodbye so difficult. You know that feeling – especially if you may
never meet the new friends again.
We’ve just said
good-bye to an old friend. She moved to Maybole in the 1950s and
became a member of our church. She was well known for her services to
the town and its people. It was not easy to say good-bye.
Preparing for the funeral service, I was struck again by Paul’s
words: . . . we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall
asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.
1 Thessalonians 413
Of
course, the process of dying may or may not be easy, but those who
believe in Jesus Christ can face death in that confidence. That is why
Paul added: We believe that Jesus died & rose again & so we believe
that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
1 Thessalonians 414
Saying Good-Bye to one
who trusted Jesus for salvation makes me ask:
Do
I Face Death With The Confidence & Hope Paul Declares?
Do you?,
If
your answer is not an assured YES,
let me urge you to turn to Him, today.
