Covenanters' Memorial - 300th Anniversary of the Battle of Bothwell Brig. |
During the summer a special service was held at the Covenanters' Memorial to mark the 300th Anniversary of the Battle of Bothwell Brig. Approximately 400 men from Carrick had been at the battle and 21 were drowned when the ship taking them to slavery went down during a storm. The service was conducted by local ministers, the Rev Anderson of Maybole Old Church, and the Rev Brown of Maybole West Church and Fisherton. The Rev Crichton of Crosshill preached at the service |
