I came across this school photo. I think it is Primary 1-2 of Cairn 1968 approx. just before Gardenrose was built. What a wonderful site. I have lived in Aberdeen for the past 15 years and when I feel homesick, or nostalgic, I go to www.maybole.org  and look through the pictures, as Forest Gump would say again. The photos of Kirkmichael have special interest to me, as I remember all the people featured and especially my Mom and Dad. Rev Johnson Baptised me, Miss Hyslop taught me at primary school, as did Mr White the headmaster. We got butcher meat from Nancy Kelly, and groceries from both Kennedy's' and McGuires, and Tom Proudfoot the village bobby, kept us all in check. The Mrs Cook featured in the village bus trip is my mother who was born in Kirkmichael in 1911. She relocated to Maypole in 1974 after the death of my father and still lives in Maybole with her "wee dog" Thank you for the memories. Sincerely Fiona Gilmour

The school photo on your front page is actually one of my own Primary class from Cairn Primary school  submitted I believe by Fiona Gilmour! Although labelled as Primary 1-2 in 1968, I believe that it may be Primary 2 or Primary 3 around 1970.  She has done a good job in being able to name many of the fresh young faces in that photo and since she invited others to have a go at the blanks then I thought I would try to add my own contribution (in orange font):
