School Of Ambition
Carrick Academy has been selected as
one of the latest secondary schools throughout Scotland- and the
first school in South Ayrshire – to join the Scottish
Executive’s Schools of Ambition programme. Schools joining the
programme – which aims to increase ambition and belief, extend
opportunities and transform future lives – will benefit from at
least an extra £100,000 annually for three years.

Speakers
A speaker from Young Carers will visit the school
to speak to S1 and a speaker from Paisley University will speak to
S5.
Red Nose Day
Red
Nose Day will take place on Friday 16th March. 6th
year pupils are currently organising events such as a pillow fight
and sleeping bag race. Uniform must be worn!!
Remember to bring lots of money!! It’s for a good cause!
Easter Holidays

No Smoking Day
This
year’s No Smoking Day will take place on Wednesday 14th
March.
S2 Visit From Turnberry
All this week a chef from Turnberry has been in
school visiting S2 classes giving them an insight to the hospitality
industry and about Turnberry. The Chef will be showing the S2
pupils how to make fresh pasta as part of a healthy eating course.
Rugby Results
The Carrick
Academy S2 team played against Auchenharvie on the 6th
March with a fantastic finial score of 36-5 to Carrick. The Carrick
tries were scored by Thomas Nisbet, William McJannet, Keiran Scott,
Jordan Brown, Jordan McCulloch (3 Tries), Kade McArthur and Blair
Jardine. Well done to all the boys who played and we hope more
brilliant results such as these will follow.
Rugby Games Coming up
The
next game coming up is on 13th March with the S1 team playing
Wellington and on the 15th March the girls team will play a team all
the way from Canada so watch put for the results in the next issue.
S4 Study Leave
The S4 study
leave starts on the 27th Of April all pupils should return to school
on the 4th of June for there induction day. GOOD
LUCK!!!
Future Chef
Philip brown took part in a competition with the
HE department in which he head to cook a number of complicated
dishes. He came second in the regional finals.
Reckless Driving
There will be
a reckless driving presentation held on 13th March for
all S5 pupils. The presentation will be held at Odeon Cinema Ayr.
Attendance is compulsory and pupils will be transported to and from
the venue by private coaches. The presentation will last
approximately 1 hour and pupils will only be out of school from 9.00
am – 11.30 am.
French Visit
On the 12th
of March a party of 25 French pupils from Crosne will arrive in
Maybole and they will return back home on the 16th
March. They will have breakfast in the school canteen. On the
Tuesday they will have a tour of the local area and on the Wednesday
they will be visiting Stirling. On the Thursday morning they will
be in school. We hope everyone will be welcoming to these guests
that will be visiting our school. |
