Class Chat

Supported Study

 

English Department are offering supported study every Tuesday and Thursday for Higher. Intermediate 2 supported study will be held at lunchtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays and after school on Thursdays.

After school study will start at 3.35pm - 4.30pm every week. If you have any queries please contact Mrs Smeeton.

 

Business Studies Supported Study

 

Business Studies department are offering extra support for Business Management, Administration and Accounts. Supported study for Admin will be held every Wednesday after – school, Business Management on Monday after-school and Accounts will be held every Tuesday after-school.

All pupils are recommended to attend supported study.

 

 

Prelims

 

S5/6 Prelims due to start 20th February. Good Luck to our seniors!!!

 

Alton Towers

 

A trip to the theme park is being arranged for S3 to S6 pupils. The trip will take place on Thursday 28th June and will cost £40. A £20 deposit and consent form is required by Tuesday 6th February.  Deposit and forms should be returned to Mr Brown at interval and lunchtime only.

 

French Exchange

 

A group of 27 pupils and 4 teachers from our twin school College Bellevue, Crosne in France will visit the school 12th – 16th March 2007.  Accommodation has been booked at Balbeg House near Straiton.  The Modern Languages department are currently planning a series of events for that week and will be contacting other departments and staff as part of a cross-curricular/citizenship project for pupils.

 

Hospitality trip

 

Friday the 19th of January S5 hospitality went on a trip to Auchencruive College to take part in sensory analysis. This included food and drink tasting; we had to state what we thought of the food, how it tasted and its texture. We also had to smell things and say what we thought they were. It showed us how people done this as a job, and how important it is to make sure that the food would be bought by consumers.

The Science Open Area Renovation

 

The Science open area is being renovated and will be closed until the end of March. The open area will be fitted with new storage and new computers. The classrooms will be accessible from the outside while the open area is closed for the renovation.

 

Girls Rugby

 

The girl’s rugby will be starting up on Monday 29th January. Miss Johnston (pupil support) will be taking the team and every one is welcome to come along. It is from 3.30pm till 4.30pm at PE so bring a full kit and change of clothes because you WILL get muddy. Everyone from S1 to S6 and of all abilities is welcome so come along and give it a try.

 

Scottish Parliament

 

Mr Brown recently took the Higher Modern Studies pupils on a trip to the Scottish Parliament. The pupils were given a guided tour and were even given the opportunity to sit in the seats of the Members of Parliament. Other activities included listening to the First Ministers question time and having lunch with Cathy Jamieson and to the boys delight they were given the chance to meet Kenny Dalgleish. The day was a great success and all the pupils extremely enjoyed it.
