Starting line-up: a group of pupils ready for the off.

LITTLE bit of rain never hurt anyone! That was the philosophy pupils of Carrick Academy had to cling to as they set off in a fun run. But it turned out to be a LOT of rain for many of the 270-plus pupils who took part in the fundraiser on Friday! However, it was laughter all the way, and so far more than £500 has been raised in sponsorship cash. The fun run was the big highlight of the school’s non-uniform day, and proceeds will be used to spruce up the dining hall. Prizes for the raffle were donated by Odeon Cinema, LA Bowl, Springwater Fishery, Turnberry Golf Club and Carrick Academy staff. And the staff and pupils who organised the day passed on their grateful thanks. Ayrshire Post Oct 2002. Click on the images below to view them full size.

Rhythm of the rain: two lads clearly in tune with the spirit of the day.

Brolly good: it was fairly pelting down at times!

Double act: girls who teamed up for the run.

Here's Ben: but was Bill also involved in the fun run. That's what we'd like to know
