S6 Work Experience

In preparation for Teacher Training next year, S6 will be on work experience once a week until Christmas. They will be helping out at local Primary schools. We will let you know how they got on.

 

Ayrshire Cross Country Champion

          The Ayrshire Cross Country Championships held at the Magnum in Irvine proved to be a very successful one for Carrick Academy. Congratulations to Colin Sturgeon of 5R1 who won the senior boys’ race, beating competitors from a range of schools in Ayrshire. Congratulations to everyone who competed and finished the race.

            

School Show

Rehearsals for the school show are on Monday’s and Thursday’s at lunchtime.  This year production is Scrooge.

 

Luv Esther!

“Luv Esther” is a new musical that has just finished a successful run in London’s West End and it is a similar idea to “Joseph and Jesus Christ Superstar”. Tickets are £10 and is open to all staff and pupils. It will take place on Wednesday 8th November at Ayr Citadel.

 

Girls Rugby

Every Tuesday from 3.30 to 4.30, 29 girls from S2 to S6 are taking part in Carrick’s new girls rugby team organised by Miss Ritchie. The game is full contact and is proving to be popular enough for 2 teams. The girls will be playing their first match on Tuesday 21st November against Kyle Academy from 3.30 to 4.30. It will cost you 20p to watch.

“Stage It”

Carrick’s  ”Stage It” short course class went to the first of four workshops at Centre Stage Musical Theatre in Kilmarnock on Tuesday 31st October. Many enjoyed the day. It involved our “stars” dancing and singing on stage. On Tuesday 8th November the second workshop, the pupils will have specialised teaching on street dancing.

 

Children in need

The house councils have been busy organising events for Children In Need so far they have organised:

  • Red house are having a gladiators competition
  • Blue are having a stars in their eyes day
  • Yellow are having a three legged obstacle race

The event is scheduled for Friday 17th November.
