The children of Primary 4 to Primary 7 of St. Cuthbert’s Primary wowed parents, family and friends with their fantastic performance of “Oliver” on Monday afternoon and evening. The boys and girls acted, sang and danced their way through the show and were rewarded with rapturous applause from their appreciative audience. Andrew Lloyd Webber should look out, St. Cuthbert’s Primary also knows a thing or two about putting on a great musical! (December 2007)

Taking a break from the treasure hunt to have some fun in the play park

A DAY in the country proved a perfect Spring tonic for the pupils of a Maybole school. And with a facility like Culzean Country Park on their doorstep, who can blame them? The parents’ association of St Cuthbert’s Primary organised a treasure hunt at the country park.

PARENTS joined pupils for a Jubilee garden party and family picnic at St Cuthbert's Primary School in Maybole. And many were in fancy dress for the happy occasion, organised by the school Parents' Association. Margaret Murray, who as Margaret Corbett was head teacher more than 20 years ago, returned to open the event. And she was presented with a bouquet of flowers, in the school colours of purple and gold, by P1 pupil Liam Menzies. South Ayrshire Council leader Councillor Andy Hill and his wife Helen were also special guests at the happy event. New slabs in the garden area were sponsored for £1 each, and all 200 were `sold'.

Here is a picture of the hockey eleven fielded by St Cuthbert's School in Maybole in 1936. The shot looks to have been taken outside the church in Dailly Road, which had a schoolroom in those days. The present St Cuthbert's building in Kirkland Street didn't open till 1939. Some of the girls in the picture look older than primary age, so the school must have catered for all ages in those days. Decorations do justice to a delicious lunch. St. Cuthbert's Primary School dining hall was transformed into a Scottish shrine when staff, pupils and guests gathered to pay tribute to the memory of Robert Burns.  From the Ayrshire Post 2-16-2001
