DUNURE HARBOUR
The
area is bounded on the west by the Firth of Clyde with panoramic views of Arran
and Ailsa Craig, and has many miles of sandy beaches offering the most
delightful opportunities for sun or sea bathing. family picnics, barbecues and
organised party outings. To the north of this stretch of seaboard is the quaint
old fishing village of Dunure with its ancient ruined castle dominating the
harbour and to the south is the slightly larger fishing village of Maidens where
Robert the Bruce landed when he sailed from Rathlin Island. Both these fishing
villages retain an old world air of peace and tranquility and are favourite
spots for artists and camera enthusiasts.
