The Maybole Historical Society is looking for any Newsletters written by Rev. Roderick Lawson. There were hundreds of them written but only a small number issued. See the examples below and contact us if you can help us. We are also seeking any information regarding Rev. David Swan as noted below.

The Rev. Roderick Lawson wrote the West Parish Monthly Letter for over 17 years, the first being issued in April 1880. The circulation was about 1600 with about 1100 being distributed in the town of Maybole and 500 sent to different parts of the world.

We are also looking for any information regarding Rev. David Swan, minister of Maybole Old Church from 1902 -1919. An example of this is the following account given by Hugh Douglas. "The only story I know about Mr Swan is this one.  When he did his parish visiting - and ministers did lots of  parish visits in those days - he called on everybody, whether of his  congregation or not. In Minishant there was one Roman Catholic family and a  number of backsliders, and he visited these along with all his own regular attenders. I'm not sure they liked it, but to David Swan his parish embraced everybody within it!"
