They’re coming home again. The
Macdonald Bros will be back on stage in Maybole Town Hall on
Tuesday 30th November to celebrate St Andrew’s Night. Last
year’s finale to the Year of Homecoming was a St Andrew’s
Night in the Town hall and it was a phenomenal success.
Top of the bill were The
MacDonald Bros who had come home to the town where they were
born and Craig and Brian really raised the roof with their
set. With over 100 artistes taking part including the
Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra and Maybole Pipe Band, the hall
was filled to capacity. The night was a joint venture
between Carrick Academy and the community and it was so
successful that there’s going to be another one this year to
see if it can be the start of an annual event and the
MacDonald Bros will be there.
Last year funds were provided
by Homecoming Scotland and this year the project is being
part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European
Community Ayrshire Leader 2007-2013 programme. Last year the
whole evening had the audience, which included South
Ayrshire’s Provost Winifred Sloan, clapping their hands,
stamping their feet and thoroughly enjoying the night as the
singers, dancers, pipers, and fiddlers went through the
whole range of Scottish music.
This year, as well as Carrick
Academy, the fiddle orchestra and pipe band, the three
primary schools in the town will be taking part and everyone
is looking forward to another great night to celebrate
Scotland’s patron saint.
Tickets, £5, are on sale from
Carrick Academy and June Dunlop, Florist, in the High
Street. |
