Maybole. During spells of good weather, they have been taking advantage of
the wooden bench seat presented to them by the kind-hearted members of
Maybole Ladies'
Golf Club. |

MEMBERS of the
McWhirter
family from Ayrshire have emigrated to the far reaches of the globe
over the past four centuries. But their descendants are planning to return
home for a family gathering in Ayr in 2003. They are coming from
Australia, New Zealand and Canada, as well as from all over the UK for the
weekend gathering (June 13-15, 2003). |

PLANS to commemorate the war dead in
Maybole have been finalised - and there will be TWO services on
Remembrance Sunday, November 11. Representatives of
Maybole Community
Council,
Maybole branch of the Royal British Legion and
Maybole Council of
Churches have been discussing the arrangements. |

ELEVEN visitors from
Maybole's
French twin town Crosne are coming for the weekend. They'll lunch with
South Ayrshire Provost Liz Foulkes tomorrow (Friday) and have a buffet
meal in the Shanter Hotel,
Kirkoswald, that
night. Saturday features a visit to Glasgow's Science Centre. |

recently organised a local collection for OXFAM. She only visited four
streets and raised more than £86 in Culzean Road, Kincraig Court, Kincraig

THE Safeway store in Maybole
played host to two fundraising events in the space of just four days last
week. On Wednesday, members of the
Cairn Parents'
Association were bag-packing in the store to raise funds for the annual
pupils' trip to the pantomime. |

Death of a Respected and
Devoted Guider. Warm tributes are paid to Frances Strachan. A leading
light in the Girl Guide movement has been extinguished with the death of
Mrs Frances Stachan.

School - to the delight of pupils, staff and parents. Councillor
Andy Hill,
South Ayrshire Council leader and local member for North Carrick and

Karate Club is planning a busy schedule in Carrick, with classes in Maybole,
Dailly and Kirkmichael. Black Belt instructors are in charge of lessons aimed at
confidence-building for all age groups. Maybole classes are on Tuesdays at the
West Kirk hall - youngsters (6 to 15) 6.30 to 7.30pm, adults 6.30 to 8.30pm.
Dailly classes are on Fridays in the sports hall - youngsters 7 to 8pm; adults 7
to 9pm. Kirkmichael classes are on Mondays in the primary school - youths 7 to
8pm; adults 8 to 10pm. |
