The service was led by Fr Stephen McGrattan, chaplain to the Maybole branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland, and was attended by members of the branch, several other local organisations and all schools. Parade marshal was Alex Davidson.

Carrick Academy pupil Scott Barrie played the lament and as he finished the Town Bell chimed for 11 o’clock.

Alex Kelly recited Binyon’s Lines:

        “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

          Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

          At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.”

Billy Swan recited the Kohima Epitaph “When you go home, tell them of us and say: 'for your tomorrow we gave our today'”.

Wreaths were laid by George Taylor and Janetta Rodgers prior to poppy crosses being laid by members of local organisations and the public.
