Maybole’s Christmas lights were switched on after several
hours of entertainment by local schools and singers on
Saturday November 28. Entertainers included Carrick Academy
choir, piper Scott Barrie, St Cuthbert’s Primary, Magic
Malky as MC, Maybole Parish Church choir, Gardenrose
primary, Cairn Primary and The Peas. Maybole Pipe Band
marched from the library to the Town Hall followed by Santa
and his friends, Niall Murphy and Sam Currie this year’s
Gala King and Queen of Carrick, Provost Winifred Sloan,
Cathy Jamieson MSP and local Councillors Mairi Low, Brian
Connolly, Ann Galbraith and Sandra Goldie. Provost Sloan had
a few words of welcome and Cathy Jamieson thanked the
following for all their help: Carrick Round Table, GAB
Audio, South Ayrshire Council, Maybole Community Council,,
Magic Malky, Strathclyde Police, John Jamieson, Maybole
Men’s Health Forum, Eddie Glass and, of course, Santa! Then
it was time to count down for the big switch on and as the
