Members of
all of Maybole’s churches met in glorious
sunshine at
Crossraguel Abbey for an ecumenical
service on Sunday June 10 to mark the
official start of the town’s gala week. It
was organised by Maybole Council of Churches
and clergy taking part were Fr Stephen
McGrattan and Rev Dave Whiteman. Some of the
hymns were sung to tunes by Robert Burns in
keeping with the gala theme this year.
Readings and prayers were by Jean Dunn,
Becky Fleming, Ann McPike, Doreen Qua and
Jim McDermott. Hymns were introduced by Ruth
Blakley, Ann McPike, Rhiain Collins, and
Phoebe McDowall. Musical accompaniment was
by Bob McPike, Kay Feldmann and Rev
Whiteman. |

Ross
Keenan and Sophie McPherson, who will be
crowned the new Gala King and Queen of
Carrick, attended the service to be
introduced to local people for the first
time.
On behalf
of Maybole Council of Churches, thanks were
extended to Historic Scotland, Maybole
Community Association, local police and
other officials for their help and support
in organising the service. |
