My name is Graeme Hay. I live in Melbourne Australia. My connection to Maybole is through my great grand parents The family came from Dunure and emigrated in 1853 and 1854. In 1853 Mary Hay and her husband Peter Murdoch and children along with Peters brother and Archibald, Mary's brother, arrived in the ship Malabar. In 1854 her mother, Mary (Dickson) along with her oldest son William & Isabella (Orr), daughters Mary, Agnes & Isabella, son James & Jacobina (McCulloch), who were married in Fisherton 23 May 1854 all sailed from Liverpool 9 June 1854 on the John & Lucy. Last September we had a family reunion at Woodstock near Bendigo in Victoria to mark 150 years since their arrival in 1854. Photo (above) was taken at the family farm in 1914 on the occasion of their Diamond wedding. The farm was called Ayr Farm. James & Jacobina are in the centre behind the girls. Would be pleased to find any Hays in Dunure at present related to us. The other photo (above) is at the farm and was a rabbit shoot in 1904 by the Woodstock Gun Club.
