The photo above of Thomas Drysdale, shoemaker was contributed by Ann Connolly. He is the Great Grandfather of Ann Connolly and Nessie Fielding and the Great Great Grandfather of Mary Morris. His wife was Mary Oram. Click on the photo for a very large image of this superb example of a shoemaker whose skilled craftsmanship and that of many others like him in Maybole were world renown in the 19th century.

Provost Hugh Fairlie and his wife Jane (nee Hunter) on the occasion of dining at Culzean Castle with the then Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII and then Duke of Windsor when he abdicated). The Marquess of Ailsa gave the dinner on the evening after the Prince had reviewed the British Legion in Maybole.

Provost Alexander Burns was known to everyone as Sanny. His wife Nan's maiden name was Watson.
